At Modern Optometry, we use advanced light-based technology to treat the underlying causes of Dry Eye Disease. Our combination of the iProX IPL and InfinityPro Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) helps restore healthy tear production, improve meibomian gland function, and provide long-lasting relief—without relying solely on eye drops or medications.
The iProX is one of the most advanced dry eye treatment systems available. Unlike traditional treatments that simply lubricate the eyes, iProX targets inflammation and meibomian gland dysfunction—the leading cause of evaporative dry eye.
Treats the root cause of dry eye instead of temporarily masking symptoms.
Reduces inflammation by treating abnormal blood vessels that contribute to chronic irritation.
Improves meibomian gland function, allowing healthy oils to flow into the tear film.
Stabilizes the tear film, reducing tear evaporation.
Helps manage blepharitis and ocular rosacea.
Reduces bacteria and Demodex around the eyelids.
Quick, comfortable treatments with virtually no downtime.
Safe for a wide range of skin types with customizable treatment settings.
Many patients also notice:
Reduced facial redness
Improved skin tone
Softer fine lines
Reduction in sun damage and pigmentation
These cosmetic improvements are an added bonus while treating your dry eye disease.
Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) is a painless dry eye treatment that uses specific wavelengths of red light to stimulate cellular repair and improve the health of the meibomian glands.
Unlike IPL, which targets inflammation around the eyelids, LLLT works by activating the cells responsible for producing the healthy oils your tears need.
Stimulates natural healing at the cellular level.
Improves meibomian gland performance.
Reduces chronic eyelid inflammation.
Enhances tear quality and stability.
Comfortable, relaxing treatment with no discomfort.
Drug-free and non-invasive.
Safe for patients who may not be ideal candidates for IPL alone.
Dry Eye Disease is complex, and many patients benefit from treating it from multiple angles.
By combining iProX IPL with InfinityPro LLLT, we can target different levels of the skin to maximize the dry eye treatment for the best results. We can also:
Reduce inflammation
Restore healthy oil gland function
Improve tear quality
Increase long-term treatment success
Decrease dependence on artificial tears and prescription eye drops
Help patients enjoy more comfortable vision throughout the day
Treatment is performed right here in our office and typically takes 15 minutes for the LLLT and 60 minutes for the combined IPL and LLLT treatments.
Most patients describe the treatment as relaxing and experience:
Little to no discomfort
No downtime
Gradual improvement over a series of treatments
Long-lasting relief with periodic maintenance treatments
You may be a candidate if you experience:
Burning or stinging eyes
Excessive tearing
Blurry vision that improves after blinking
Red or irritated eyes
Contact lens discomfort
Blepharitis
Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD)
Ocular rosacea
Dry eye symptoms that haven’t improved with eye drops

NuLids is an FDA-cleared device designed to gently clean and exfoliate the eyelid margins. It removes debris, bacteria, biofilm, and excess oils that contribute to inflammation and dysfunction of the meibomian glands.
Reduces inflammation along the eyelid margins
Removes bacteria and debris associated with blepharitis
Improves meibomian gland function by cleaning the surface of the gland to allow better flow of meibum
Helps clear collarettes associated with demodex
NuLids is an excellent option for patients with:
Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD)
Blepharitis
Chronic dry eye
Contact lens discomfort
Crusty or irritated eyelids
Demodex
Many patients notice healthier eyelids, improved tear quality, and greater day-to-day comfort with regular cleanings.

Amniotic membrane therapy uses donated human amniotic tissue that contains natural growth factors and anti-inflammatory proteins. The membrane is placed on the surface of the eye like a therapeutic bandage, where it promotes healing of damaged tissue. This is reserved for extreme/severe dry eye.
Accelerates healing of the ocular surface
Reduces inflammation
Relieves pain and irritation
Promotes regeneration of healthy corneal cells
Helps restore a smoother, healthier eye surface
May improve vision affected by surface damage
Amniotic membrane therapy may be recommended for:
Severe dry eye disease
Persistent corneal defects
Recurrent corneal erosions
Chemical or thermal injuries
Neurotrophic keratitis
Ocular surface inflammation after surgery
Treatment is typically completed over several days while the membrane naturally supports healing.

Punctal plug are tiny biocompatible devices inserted into the tear drainage openings (puncta). By slowing tear drainage, they allow your natural tears to remain on the eye longer, keeping the surface better lubricated. They are used less frequently than in the past when other therapies were not available, but still have their place.
Increases natural tear retention
Provides longer-lasting moisture
Reduces burning, stinging, and irritation
Improves comfort during reading and computer use
Can decrease the need for frequent artificial tears
Quick, in-office procedure with little or no discomfort
Punctal plugs are often recommended for patients who:
Have moderate to severe dry eye
Produce tears that drain too quickly
Continue to experience symptoms despite using lubricating drops
Need longer-lasting relief
Most patients return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.
No two cases of dry eye are exactly alike. That’s why we perform a comprehensive evaluation of your tear film, eyelids, meibomian glands, and ocular surface before recommending treatment.
Depending on your condition, your personalized treatment plan may include:
NuLids eyelid hygiene therapy
Amniotic membrane treatment
Punctal plugs
Prescription eye drops
Warm compress therapy
Nutritional supplements
In-office gland treatments
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy
Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT)
